Georginio Wijnaldum 'didn't feel loved and appreciated' by some at Liverpool

Former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum said he “didn’t feel the love and appreciation of some people” during his time at the club.

The 30-year-old Dutch international moved to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer after his contract with the Anfield team expired.

In 2016, he joined the Red Army from Newcastle United for £25 million.

Wijnaldum played 237 games for Liverpool, helping Liverpool win the Premier League and the Champions League.

“There was a time when I didn’t feel loved or appreciated,” Wijnaldum told various newspapers.

“Not my teammate, not someone from Melwood. Among them, I know, I can say that they all love me, and I love them. I’m not there, but more in On the other side.”

Wijnaldum played for Liverpool’s last game, beating Crystal Palace by 20 points at home, keeping Jurgen Klopp’s team in the Champions League qualification.

The audience applauded him, and his teammates and coaching staff presented him with a guard of honor after the game.

“I must say there are social networks,” Wijnaldum added.

“When things got bad, I was the player they blamed me for wanting to leave.

” Every day in training sessions and games, I do everything possible so that the game has a good ending, because in these years the Liverpool means a lot to me because of the way the fans treat me in the stadium.

“My feeling is that the fans at the stadium and the fans on social media are two different.

” The fans at the stadium have always supported me. Even if they return (when the fans can participate in the game), they already know that I am leaving, they still support me, and in the end they say goodbye.

“On social media, if we lose, I am the culprit.”
