Real Madrid 1-0 Rayo Vallecano, Karim Benzema scored a late winner

Real Madrid went nine points clear at the top of La Liga as Karim Benzema scored a late winner against Rayo Vallecano.

From six yards out, Benzema played a one-two with Vinicius Jr and tapped the Brazilian’s unselfish return pass into an empty net.

In the first half, Casemiro had a goal ruled out for offside by the video assistant referee.

Rayo had multiple chances to match their more illustrious opponents.

Forward Sergi Guardiola had eight attempts, including many headers that went wide of the mark. Thibaut Courtois had to make a great double save to keep Oscar Trejo and Alvaro Garcia out just before the game started.
