Mancini’s goal puts Europa Conference League in doubt!
Gianluca Mancini’s second-half own goal leaves Europa Conference League semi-final in balance
Report from Leicester’s 1-1 tie with Roma in the first leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final at the King Power Stadium,
as Gianluca Mancini throws into his own net to cancel out Lorenzo Pellegrini’s early opener.
Leicester’s hopes of reaching the Europa Conference League final were boosted by Gianluca Mancini’s own goal
Watch the strong equalizer between Leicester City and Roma!!!
after the first leg of their semi-final with Roma ended 1-1.
Lorenzo Pellegrini was fed by a precise Nicola Zalewski ball and shot through Kasper Schmeichel’s
legs to give Roma an early lead against the run of play (15).
Leicester had a number of chances to equalise in each half,
the best of which was Ademola Lookman’s wayward free header from a corner,
and finally broke through when Harvey Barnes, who had only been introduced minutes before, drove into the box before his cross was turned into his own goal by Mancini.
Both teams had late chances to take a first-leg lead,
with Sergio Oliveira’s shot being saved by an acrobatic Schmeichel
save and Kelechi Iheanacho’s long-range effort needing Rui Patricio to turn around the post.
Because of the tie,
the replay in Rome next Thursday
will be a one-match shootout for the chance to meet Feyenoord or Marseille in the final.
