Ireland on good way in Nations League for the first time!

Ireland ‘s second-choice forwards Troy Parrott and Michael Obafemi each scored in a 3-0 UEFA Nations League victory over Scotland on Saturday,

giving Stephen Kenny’s team their first win in the competition.

In the 20th minute, defender Shane Duffy won the ball in the air after a corner kick,

and midfielder Alan Browne bundled his cross across the line to give Ireland an early lead.

Following a wonderful weighted cross from Obafemi,

who lofted the ball over the top of the Scottish defence to land directly in front of Craig Gordon’s goal,

Parrott nodded home to make it 2-0 for the hosts eight minutes later.

Obafemi startled the Aviva Stadium audience once more with a fantastic shot from outside the box six minutes into the second half,

securing their first win in 13 Nations League games.

The Irish improved two places to second position in League B Group One,

while Scotland dropped to third place with three points.

The Republic of Ireland’s 3-0 triumph over Scotland is the team’s’most significant’ home win in seven years,

according to Stephen Kenny.

Ukraine, which won 3-0 over Armenia in the other group match, is still in first place.

After losses to Armenia and Ukraine in the previous week, Kenny entered the game under duress. The Ireland coach, on the other hand, did not want to brag after his team thrashed the Scots, who were placed higher in the Fifa rankings than Ireland (39 v 49).

Kenny stated that the victory did not serve as a “justification” for his status as manager. Instead, he focused on the team’s relationship with its fans.

“I’m not here to make any justification remarks,” Kenny remarked.

Meanwhile, Scotland coach Steve Clarke claimed that Ireland deserved to win and that his squad ‘couldn’t deal’ with Ireland’s ‘front foot’ performance.

Ireland defeated Scotland 3-0.

Ireland’s next game is against Ukraine in Poland, which will be their final match of the international window. Obafemi, Saturday’s man of the match, may miss the game after tweaking his groyne, according to Kenny.

Shane Duffy will be suspended, and John Egan may miss the game.
