Juve gets the chance to assess team one last time!

It’s time for one final friendly,

one final opportunity to participate in a match with no relevance to the rankings or for any kind of points.

Juve gets the chance to assess this team one last time before the start of the Serie A season

in its own backyard in a friendly that was originally scheduled to take place thousands of miles abroad but was ultimately brought to Turin due to continued violence in the Middle East.

This evening’s friendly match between Juve and Atletico Madrid

gives manager Max Allegri one more opportunity to make adjustments before the start of the season against Sassuolo on August 15.

If they are unable to schedule a rescheduled match with the Serie A team,

they will look for another opponent.

Due to the conflict in Israel, Juve had expressed doubt about the match,

and Atletico’s decision to cancel their trip ensured that the match would not occur as scheduled.
The upcoming start of the new Spanish and Italian football seasons has the two top competitors prepared for their final preseason friendly match. Just before the start of their domestic league season,

Juve will face Atlético Madrid of Spain. On August 8,

intense football action will take place at Israel’s Bloomfield Stadium.

In contrast to other elite European clubs that have taken part in numerous trips,

Juventus played a very limited number of preseason games.

The Bianconeri team is preparing to take on a third Spanish power after previously facing FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Juve fell short in their previous match against Real Madrid,

the current European champions, 0–2 in favour of Los Blancos.

On the other side,

ATM took part in three preseason contests and won each of them. The Atlético team must have felt more confident after a spectacular victory over Manchester United,

which put an end to the Red Devils’ undefeated streak. The Red and Whites faced a challenging opponent,

Nahuel Molina will not be acquired by Juventus because he is almost certain to join Atletico de Madrid.

and Atleti was discreetly putting the transfer together behind the scenes.

The majority of the deal has already been completed,

the defender will join Diego Simeone’s team in a player-plus-cash swap, with Nehuen Perez moving the opposite way.

Alvaro Morata scored a hat-trick against his former team as Atleti’s impressive preseason record continued. Morata spent the previous two seasons on loan at Juve and has been linked with a return this summer.

Originally set to take place on Saturday in Israel, the game was postponed and instead played behind closed doors 24 hours later.

After Alex Sandro deflected a corner back against his own goal post and Axel Witsel failed to control the rebound, Atletico came close to taking the lead. However, they didn’t have to wait long as Morata broke the tie after just 10 minutes. The Spanish player caught a deft through ball.

Atlético Madrid has completed their preseason schedule with a fourth straight victory, this time defeating Juventus 4-0 in a resounding triumph that positions the Colchoneros superbly for the start of LaLiga in eight days.

The first goal came following some outstanding work from Joo Félix down the left side, which allowed lvaro Morata to score the game’s first goal.

Wojciech Szczsny’s save from Joo’s penalty after Alex Sandro’s arm stopped a Saul cross was the lone letdown of the night, but Morata quickly responded with a second goal.

Okay, so this was amicable. However, Atlético Madrid has not had a player score a hat-trick in LaLiga since Antoine Griezmann did so in February 2018.

You may argue that our prediction that he will win the Ballon d’Or is overly optimistic (and you could even be right). However, Morata has shown a lot of promise during this preseason, and the match against Juventus was his best to far.

While their relationship in 2019–20 never quite clicked, this preseason it seemed as though two old friends had reconnected. Their movement and link-up play have been crucial in creating new openings in the kinds of situations where Morata is most lethal.

His second goal in particular displayed remarkable technique as he cut back and skillfully blasted past Szczsny. It’s the cutting edge that Griezmann or a last season’s waning Luis Suárez so frequently lacked. Diego Simeone needs a poacher in the box like that.

Ironically, after spending the previous two seasons there, Morata’s three goals were scored against a team that has been after him all summer. The 29-year-old will likely stay at Atlético Madrid, and it’s now up to him to establish himself as the team’s top option.

At the very end of the game, Matheus Cunha surprised everyone by scoring a poacher’s finish of his own, just in case he was becoming a little overconfident.

Within this squad, there is fierce competition for positions.

Could Sal start the game?
There is little room for debate on Yannick Carrasco’s status as the preferred option down the left wing. But even if he’s not entirely healthy, Saul Gonzalez has made a strong case for being the left wingback position’s next-best option.

Along with Lemar in the more central position on the left of the midfield three, and with Félix in front of him, the Spaniard seemed to have a great connection.

Atleti needs a spot kicker.
