Al-Ahly of Egypt lost to the Brazilian Palmeiras (0-2), today, Tuesday, at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup “UAE 2021”.

Next Saturday, Palmeiras will meet in the final, with the winner of the meeting between Chelsea and Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Al-Ahly will meet the loser of the second match of the Golden Square, in the meeting to determine the third and fourth places.

The two teams performed averagely in the first half, and Palmeiras benefited from the poor positioning of Al-Ahly’s defenders, to hit the offside, and score a goal that had a moral effect on the Al-Ahmar players.

Palmeiras repeated scoring early in the second half, to make it more difficult for Al-Ahly to return, despite the development of Al-Ahmar’s offensive performance and his better appearance, until his defender Ayman Ashraf was expelled.

He explained the fear and caution over the performance of the two teams in the first minutes, and Al-Ahly closed half of its stadium well and canceled the spaces, and with it the danger of Palmeiras was absent.

The African champions played poorly in the middle of the field, so there was no danger to Palmeiras, who in turn struggled to find offensive solutions.

The two teams began to give up exaggerated caution in the last 15 minutes of the first half, and the pace increased, and the dangers appeared in the two teams’ attacks.

From the only chance in the first half, Palmeiras hit Al-Ahly’s infiltration trap with the delay of Yasser Ibrahim, to leave with his fellow defenders, to kidnap Rafael Vega, the ball, and the goalkeeper Ali Lotfi, and put the ball into the net in the 39th minute.

Al-Ahly’s attacking performance developed, and its players spread well in the opponent’s half, and Amr Al-Sulayya had an opportunity in the last minute of stoppage time, but he shot in the hands of the Palmeiras goalkeeper.

Al-Ahly started the second half more actively and hit a weak ball in the hands of the goalkeeper.

This activity created empty spaces in the defense, and Doudou took advantage of them, to start from the middle of the field, enter the penalty area, and shoot strongly inside Al-Ahly’s net in the 49th minute.

Al-Ahly demanded a penalty kick after blocking Ahmed Abdel Qader, and the video technology did not respond to the request of the African champion in the 55th minute, Al-Ahly’s chances continued, but it lacked strength and focus.

Muhammad Sharif scored a goal for Al-Ahly in the 72nd minute, and the referee canceled it for infiltration, after returning to the video technology, which corrected the referee’s decision in Ayman Ashraf’s warning, turning the decision into a direct expulsion in the 80th minute.

Al-Ahly was affected by the numerical shortage in its ranks, but it was active in stoppage time, and the Palmeiras goalkeeper sent off a powerful shot by Mohamed Hani.

The crossbar responded, with Walid Suleiman’s header, to end the match with a victory for Palmeiras.
