Barca had the chance to go two on top vs Osasuna

Following Real Madrid’s loss against Rayo Vallecano yesterday night, Barcelona had the chance to go two (or more) points clear on top of La Liga with a win against Osasuna tonight.

The game did not start ideally for Barça, though,

as David Garcia opened the scoring from a corner in the 6th minute – albeit rather controversially

No less than 25 minutes later,

Robert Lewandowski was sent off for two yellow cards,

complicating matters further.

From that point on,

Xavi had to pull a special rabbit out of his hat to bring Barcelona back into the game.

Two minutes into the second 45,

Barcelona got an equaliser courtesy of Pedri,

who timed his run into the box to perfection to collect a rebound.

In the 85th minute, then,

super-sub Raphinha executed the game with one of the best finishes of his life, lobbing the Osasuna goalkeeper with a header.

This is arguably one of Barcelona’s best games of the season – the team came through under dire circumstances,

proving they have what it takes to win La Liga.

BARCELONA: Second half goals from Pedri and Raphinha

rescued 10-man Barcelona as they fought back to win 2-1 at Osasuna in LaLiga yesterday after striker Robert Lewandowski was sent off in the first half.

David Garcia headed Osasuna into the lead from a corner in the sixth minute and Lewandowski saw red following a second booking in the 31st.

Gerard Pique, who was on the bench,

was also shown a red card at halftime after complaining to the referee.

Yet Pedri equalised from a rebound right after the break and Raphinha came off the bench to score Barca’s winner five minutes from fulltime, with a brilliant dipping header from outside the box that looped over the goalkeeper into the net.

Barcelona will go into the World Cup break top of the standings on 37 points, five ahead second-placed Real Madrid, who will host second-bottom Cadiz on Thursday.
