Mirjim Berisha of the hosts scored the game’s lone goal in the 59th minute of play.

Losing after three straight draws dropped Bayern to fourth place with 12 points,

while Augsburg moved up to eleventh by earning its ninth point.

Despite numerous chances from both sides, there was no genuine threat to either goal in

the first minutes.

By the 13th minute, Bayern almost took the lead with a goal, but Sadio Mane lost a single

opportunity after attempting to evade Rafal Jekevich, who easily caught the ball.

Leroy Sane received a silk ball close to the penalty area, and the Augsburg goalkeeper came

back to stop the visitors from scoring again, but his weak effort was saved by Jekevich.

A few minutes later, Bayern’s Manuel Neuer reacted by stopping a rocket shot by

Niederlechner from outside the box, preventing Augsburg from scoring a shocker.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann made a number of substitutes in an effort to salvage Bayern, most

notably bringing on Serge Gnabry in place of Nassir Mazraoui and then Chubu Moting in

place of Sadio Mane.

Except for Sabitzer, who was on the verge of snatching the equalizer with a crawling ground

shot that missed the post, the replacements were unable to offer offensively.

Sane tried a long-range shot during the extra time, but it was too inaccurate and went over the crossbar.

After taking a corner for Bayern, Neuer moved closer to the Augsburg goal area in an effort to assist his colleagues in tying the score. He rose to Kimmich’s cross and directed a header that went over the net.

Neuer attempted again by moving forward after taking another corner, but this time he was closer to scoring after directing a powerful header. To help his team hold a lead until the last siren, Augsburg’s goalie stood in front of it.
