Frankfurt! puts more pressure on Tottenham

In the second round of Group D, Eintracht Frankfurt! defeated host Marseille 1-0 for its first victory in the UEFA Champions League.

With this victory, Frankfurt, who now has three points, tied with Tottenham for first place in

the group, sparked the competition. Sporting Lisbon leads the group with six points.

In the 43rd minute, Jasper Lindstrom scored the game-winning goal.

Unfortunate events before to Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt!’s meeting

In today’s Champions League match between Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany and

Olympique Marseille of France at the Velodrome Stadium, there were violent altercations

between the supporters of the two clubs.

Fireworks were exchanged between the teams, and videos posted on social media captured

Frankfurt supporters doing the Nazi salute.

The Frankfurt club is investigating the identification of the culprits in these incidents,

according to the publication “Bild.”

Dimitri Payet‘s lack of performance versus Frankfurt was a major letdown. As soon as he

stepped away from the field, he was hit by lightning.

Dimitri Payet did not take advantage of his opportunity with OM despite named as

the starter for this Champions League match some days prior by his coach. The Reunionese

played for an hour while aligned for the first time with Alexis Sanchez and Gerson, playing as if he were a ghost. The number 10 irritated the OM supporters to say the least, who repeatedly whistled him when he left the field because he was completely absent from the debates and too slow on one of his few occasions. Although Payet admittedly lacked rhythm, he also lacked the fighting spirit necessary for such a contest, and the criticism on social media was harsh. OM supporters are pressuring Payet to announce his retirement when, as recently as last season, he might still be the team’s top attacking asset.
