The Nerazzurri returned to score two consecutive goals by Lautaro Martinez (66) and Joaquin Correa (78), before Antonio Silva scored Benfica’s second goal (86), while Peter Musa equalized in the minute (90 + 5).
The beginning was calm on both sides until the 14th minute, when Barella managed, with individual skill, to score the first goal after receiving the ball and entering the penalty area, and aiming a wonderful ball with his left into the net.
Benfica’s goalkeeper, Flachodemus, almost gifted Inter with the second goal seconds after Barella’s goal, after he went out trying to catch a cross ball, to fall from his hand in front of Dzeko, but he returned and grabbed it quickly.
Benfica had the first opportunity in the 31st minute, after a free kick in front of the penalty area, which Chikenho executed with a direct and elaborate shot over the wall, so that Inter goalkeeper Onana shone and blocked it twice.
Lautaro doubled the score for Inter in the 33rd minute, after Dzeko’s cross, which the Argentine striker met with a header, but the referee canceled the goal because there was a mistake on Lautaro, who pushed the Benfica player during the shot.
And in the 38th minute, Benfica equalized the score through Frederick Orsnes, who took advantage of an excellent cross from Rafa Silva on the right side, and turned it with a missile header into the net of the Nerazzurri.
In the same way as Benfica’s goal, Inter almost visited Benfica’s net after a perfect cross from Alessandro Bastoni, which was met by Dzeko with a missile header, but it passed near the guests’ right post in the 61st minute.
