On Friday night in the European Nations League events, Italy!! may not have given the performance that would have given it the due advantage over its guest, England, but it nevertheless managed to secure a significant victory (1-0).
Italy – England Played on 09/23/2022
The Italian team improved their total to 8 points, placing them second in Group C behind
Hungary, who had the most points with 10, ahead of Germany, who was in third place with 6,
and behind England, who finished last in the group with 2.
The first half of the game was quite awful for both teams, but the second half saw a slight
improvement in both teams’ play, and Giacomo Rasbadori‘s goal by the greatest Italians
gave him the victory.
The Italian national team’s coach, Roberto Mancini, continued the process of rebuilding the
“Azuri” in the absence of his team from the World Cup Qatar 2022 with a generation of
enthusiastic players lacking in international experience, and he reaped the rewards of his
adventure by defeating a team that viewed, up until tonight, as a contender to compete
for the title of World Cup.
Italy!! vs England
The issues facing the England team, which was eliminated from the Nations League
tournament as a result of this defeat, were clear, despite Gareth Southgate’s best efforts to
address them since the summer of last year.
Mancini frequently used the 3-5-2 formation; Rafael Toloi, Leonardo Bonucci, and Francesco
Acerbi made up the back line, while Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Federico Dimarco stood at
either end of the field. Jorginho served as the center forward, positioned behind midfielders
Nicola Parilla and Brian Cristante, who moved in front of Rasbadori and Gianluca Scamacca.
In order to isolate England’s leading scorer Harry Kane, the team chose to play with three
defenders at the back for the majority of the first half. This was done to stop the English
from launching assaults through both flanks.
