After a goalless draw in regulation and extra time, Liverpool won the match on penalties (6-5).


This is Liverpool’s eighth title, and their first since 2006, while Chelsea’s record stands at

eight titles.


Moreover Liverpool has won both the FA Cup and the League for the first time since the

2000-2001 season, when it also won the European League.


As well as Liverpool is preparing for the Champions League final against Real Madrid on

May 28 in Paris, France.

Only Arsenal (14 titles) and Manchester United (12 titles) have more FA Cup victories than

Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah rose to a cross from Arnold and shot a header over the crossbar in the

fourth minute, giving Liverpool the lead for the first time in the game.


After Arnold provided a wonderful interface to Diaz, who was alone in Mendy, striking a

ground ball that the Senegalese goalkeeper excelled in, Liverpool lost a real chance to open

the scoring in the eighth minute.


Chelsea came close to score in the 23rd minute when Mont fired a cross cross from the right

In the 33rd minute, Liverpool were dealt a major setback as Mohamed Salah exited the field

with a muscular injury and was replaced by Diogo Jota.

Robertson soon followed a cross into the 6-yard area, hitting a ball at the bird that also hit the post, adding to Liverpool’s misery.
Diaz attempted a knockout in the 90th minute with an arc shot from the edge of the area that just went wide of the post, and the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

With the start of the first extra period, Chelsea presented the first threat, with Mount firing a powerful ball from outside the area that went wide of the goal.
The 13th minute saw Silva cross from a corner kick with a header that went over the crossbar, and the minutes after that saw nothing new, so extra time finished in a goalless tie as well.
Milner, Thiago, Firmino, Arnold, Jota, and Tsimikas scored for Liverpool in the penalty shootout, but Sadio Mane missed.

Alonso, James, Barkley, Jorginho, and Ziyech scored for Chelsea, while Azpilicueta and Mount both missed.
