Man Utd wins in extra time with a goal

Man Utd defeated Omonia Nicosia thanks to a stoppage-time winner from substitute Scott McTominay, maintaining their chances of finishing first in their group and earning a spot in the Europa League.

Manchester United – AC Omonia – Played on 10/13/ 2022

When McTominay came in with fewer than ten minutes left to play, Jadon Sancho set him up

in the area for the game-winning goal.

As a result, United is still three points behind Real Sociedad, who defeated Sheriff Tiraspol to

earn their fourth victory in as many competitive games.

Erik ten Hag’s team controlled and had numerous excellent scoring opportunities, but they

were frustrated until McTominay’s winning goal.

Francis Uzoho, the goalkeeper for Omonia, stopped 11 of United’s 12 shots on goal, making

him without a doubt the visitors’ best player.

Despite stopping three significant opportunities for Marcus Rashford in the first half, he was

helpless to stop McTominay’s shot in the 93rd minute.

Before Fred headed over the crossbar from an open position in the box in the first half,

Casemiro, who started in midfield beside Fred, also hit the crossbar.

McTominay missed a reckless attempt

McTominay missed a reckless attempt into the seats before he regained his composure to score the game-winning goal in front of a jubilant Old Trafford crowd. Cristiano Ronaldo could not take his opportunities either.
On the cusp of halftime, Omonia, who had little opportunities at the other end, had a chance to score, but Bruno Felipe failed to set up teammate Andronikos Kakoullis, who was entirely unrestricted in the middle, for a goal.

4,500 away supporters were cheering on Neil Lennon’s team, who had led 1-0 in the previous week’s match until Rashford’s two goals gave United a 3-2 victory, and they were just minutes away from a noteworthy outcome.
With a win, Man Utd’s chances of winning the group remain realistic. On October 27, they host Sheriff Tiraspol in their upcoming game.
