Manchester City beat Paris Saint-Germain at home to Paris Saint-Germain (2-1) on Wednesday night, advancing with him to the price of the Champions League final for Group A.
Kylian Mbappe scored Paris Saint-Germain (50) before Manchester City managed to equalize through Raheem Sterling (63). Then progressed through substitute Gabriel Jesus (76).
Manchester City held the top spot in the group with 12 points, 4 ahead of PSG, who are 4 points clear of third-placed Leipzig, with one round remaining in the first round.
Both teams secured qualification in the same current order to the last 16 of the Champions League.
Strong start
The first dangerous chances of the encounter came in the sixth minute when City midfielder Rodri rose to a free-kick. As he headed the ball before defender Presnel Kimpembe took it away from the goal line.
The referee’s banner rose in the face of a shot from Neymar, who received a pass from Nunn Mendez in the 17th minute. And a minute later City responded via a tight shot from Mahrez. Which bounced off St Germain full-back Ashraf Hakimi to top the goal.
City defender Robin Diaz rose to a corner. But his header attempt went goalside after bouncing off Kimpembe in the 19th minute.
Sterling led with the ball from the left-wing, before passing a through ball to fellow Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko, who fired in an elaborate shot that Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas shone away in the 22nd minute.
M anchester City goalkeeper Ederson slammed home Mendez’s shot in the 27th minute. And one minute later Silva sent a ball in front of St Germain’s goal, reaching Sterling which brought him back to Zinchenko. The latter’s shot bouncing off St Germain captain Marquinhos.
