Messi scored twice as Argentina overrun Bolivia 4-1 at Copa America

Lionel Messi scored twice and Argentina defeated Bolivia 4-1 points on Monday to face Ecuador in the Copa América quarterfinals.

And Alejandro Gómez finished off with a volley after a brilliant pass from Messi five minutes later.

The Barcelona forward surpassed Javier Mascherano as Argentina’s most played international, doubling the lead from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute.

However, Lionel Messi used a clever lob to tie the score at 3-0 points shortly before the break, and Ervin Savidra scored a consolation goal for Bolivia in the hour, replacing Lautaro. Martínez recovered the mat of three Argentine balls with a light blow five minutes later.

The result means that Argentina will face Ecuador in the round of 16 on Saturday, while Uruguay, who defeated Paraguay 10, will meet Colombia on the same day.

Host Brazil will face Chile in Rio de Janeiro on Friday, and Paraguay will also face Peru on Friday.
