Monterrey defeats Al Jazira and takes fifth place in the World Cup

Mexico’s Monterrey finished his career in the Club World Cup “UAE 2021”, in fifth place, after his victory over the Emirati Al-Jazira this evening, Wednesday (3-1), at Al-Nahyan Stadium, while Al-Jazira came sixth.

Monterrey opened the scoring early in the 4th minute, with friendly fire through Zayed Sultan, and although it was converted into a corner by goalkeeper Ali Khaseef, the video technology confirmed that it had crossed the goal line.

Khaseef made a mistake, in the 11th minute, when Rogelio Funes Morey snatched the ball, skillfully dealing with it, and scoring a second goal for Monterrey, making the situation of the hosts more difficult.

Al-Jazira’s reaction remained absent, until it received the third goal in the 25th minute, from Cesar Montes’ header, after a free-kick was played crosswise, guarded by Al-Jazira defenders.

Al-Jazira almost reduced the difference from his first dangerous chance in the 36th minute, with a shot from Omar Traore, and the goalkeeper kept it away, to prepare in front of Ahmed Al-Attas, but he shot it weak in the hands of the goalkeeper, ending the first half in favor of Monterrey (3-0).

Monterrey dominated the second half, but did not seek to increase his goals, after securing the result, and preferred not to pressure his players to avoid fatigue before returning to local competitions.

Al-Jazira succeeded in the 90th minute, scoring an honorary goal with Bruno’s foot, after a cross from Diaby, and the owner of the land was satisfied with ending his second participation in the Club World Cup in sixth place after he finished his first participation in fourth place.
