Spain earned a bad result in the European Nations League on Thursday evening when it was held to a draw by the portugal visitors.

The match between Spain and Portugal in the first round of the second group tournaments
at the first level of the European Nations League ended in a 1-1 tie at home.
In the worst series for Matador against one competition, Spain failed to overcome their
Portuguese neighbor for the sixth time in a straight (5 draws and a loss).
It’s worth mentioning that the two sides’ last five encounters have all ended in a draw.
Spain’s latest win over Portugal came in the 2010 World Cup, when the “Matador” beat
Portugal in the round of 16 of the South African-hosted tournament.
Following that, in a friendly match the same year, the Portuguese national team defeated its
Spanish counterpart by a significant margin.
In the semi-finals of Euro 2012, the two teams tied 0-0, and the Spain squad won the
qualification ticket on penalties (legally, this counts as a draw).
The two teams met again in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup, and the match finished
in a 3-3 tie.
Following that, Spain and Portugal played two friendlies in 2020 and 2021, both of which
finished in a goalless draw, before tying for the second time on Thursday evening.
