Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich intends to sell the club after 19 years of formal ownership, in the wake of the Cold War between Russia and Ukraine.

The Russian businessman announced that he would not ask Chelsea to repay any loans.

He confirmed that he will establish a charitable association in which all net proceeds from among the club will be donated to the benefit of the victims of the war in Ukraine.

And the official Chelsea website published a statement today, Wednesday, from Abramovich, which said the following:” I would like to address the speculation in the media over the past few days regarding the ownership of Chelsea FC.

As I mentioned before, I have always taken decisions with the interest of the club, in the current situation I have decided to sell the club, as I believe this is in the interest of the club, the fans, and the staff as well as the club’s sponsors and partners.

Selling the club will not be rushed but will follow due process. I will not ask for any loans to be repaid. This has never been about work or money for me, but with my passion for the game and the club.

Furthermore, I have instructed my team to establish a charitable foundation in which all net proceeds will be donated from Alpine and will primarily be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine and that will provide the necessary funds to meet the immediate and immediate needs of the victims as well as support the long-term recovery work.

I hope everyone knows that it was a very difficult decision and it hurts me to be separated from the club in this way, however, I think it is in his best interest.

I hope to be able to visit Stamford Bridge for the last time to say goodbye to all of you in person. It has been a privilege of my life to be a part of Chelsea FC and I am proud of all our combined accomplishments. Chelsea and their supporters will always be in my heart.
