Highlights of Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk match

Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk match: Vinicius Junior scored two goals, including a miraculous solo goal, to lead Real Madrid to a 5-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk and get their Champions League season back on track on Tuesday.

This was Carlo Ancelotti’s team in his prime after an embarrassing defeat in his last European match against newcomer Sheriff.

It’s also a timely victory for Madrid ahead of El Clásico’s showdown against Barcelona on Sunday.

Madrid’s lead was reinforced in the 37th minute when Shakhtar captain Sergiy Kryvtsov converted a Lucas Vázquez cross into his own goal.

Vinicius lit up the start of the second half by holding the ball over goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin in the 51st minute after Luka Modric slipped a pass served by Karim Benzema.

Vinicius scored again five minutes later, passing Dodo in the area and then Kryvtsov before hitting the net. The young Brazilian then prepared his compatriot Rodrygo to end Benzema’s injury time loss in 64th
after intercepting a Marco Asensio cross at the end.

Commenting on his second goal, Vinicius said: “It is a move that I always do in training and it comes, but sometimes it is more difficult in games. I am very happy with the goal.”

Madrid, thirteen-time European champions, rose to second place in Group D with six points. Sheriff continues to lead based on the head-to-head run with Madrid despite losing 3-1 at Inter Milan.

“It was an important game after the loss at home. We played well, we scored goals, we didn’t concede, it’s a good result for us,” said Benzema.

“Hopefully I can continue like this, help my team on the pitch. I want to win. If I can help with the goals, that’s good for everyone.”

Ancelotti was satisfied with the performance of this team, but eased the tension in the face of LaLiga’s biggest rivalry.

“It’s difficult to single out a player, everyone did well. We defended well, we were focused from the beginning, we implemented our strategy well.

The team was dangerous during the break. It’s a game that gives us confidence, that’s normal, but against Barcelona it’s a different game and a different story. “
