Sanchez leads Chile to bypass past the danger zone in the World Cup qualifiers
Chile crossed the danger zone after beating hosts Bolivia 2-1 on Tuesday evening, in the 16th round of the South American qualifiers for the World Cup “Qatar 2022”.
The visitors took the lead early by striker Alexis Sanchez in the 14th minute of the match hosted by the (Hernando Siles) stadium in the capital, La Paz.
The Inter Milan star’s goal came from a free-kick from outside the area, which he placed in a distinctive way that the Bolivia goalkeeper could not prevent.
It was not long before the response of Bolivia, which equalized thanks to a distinctive header by defender Marc Anumba in the 37th minute.
La Roja took the lead in the match with a superb goal scored by attacking midfielder Marcelino Nunez in the 77th minute.
Sanchez returned to consolidate his team’s lead, scoring his second and third personal goal for Chile in the 85th minute.
And seconds before the end of the match, spearhead Marcelo Martins Moreno reduced the difference for Bolivia in the 88th minute.

Chile returned to the path of victories after falling to Argentina in the last round with two goals, bringing its tally to 19 points, bringing it to fifth place, qualifying for the continental play-off, which represents an opportunity to reach the World Cup.
