Kepa’s stray bullet crowns Liverpool with the League Cup
Liverpool won the English Premier League Cup, for the ninth time in its history, on Sunday evening, after defeating Chelsea in the final match at Wembley Stadium, on penalties (11-10), after the end of the original and extra time in a goalless draw.
Chelsea formed the first danger in the match, in the sixth minute, after Azpilicueta sent a cross-foot towards Pulisic, who was completely unmarked, to hit a direct kick, Kelleher’s brilliance in stopping it.
And Liverpool got a violation close to the penalty area, in the 22nd minute, which Arnold paved the way for Salah, who hit a powerful ball that passed next to the post.
Liverpool missed a real chance to score in the 30th minute, after Keita fired a ground missile from outside the penalty area, which was saved by Mendy before paving the way in front of Mane, to hit the ball of the Senegalese goalkeeper’s brilliance in deporting it to a corner kick.
Chelsea almost opened the scoring, in the 42nd minute, with a powerful shot from Azpilicueta from the edge of the area, which went a little over the crossbar.
Chelsea continued to miss the achieved opportunities, after Haveritz passed a magic ball to Mont solo, in the 45th minute, to hit the latter with a direct ball on the bird, which passed strangely next to the post, so that the first half ended in a goalless draw.
