Liverpool’ put an end to Newcastle’s ambitions
Liverpool’ momentarily climbed to the top of the English Premier League after defeating Newcastle United 1-0 on Saturday evening in the 35th round.
In the 19th minute, Naby Keita scored the game’s only goal. With this win, Liverpool’s tally increased to 82 points, two points ahead of Manchester City, who will later face Leeds United, while Newcastle’s tally remained static at 43 points in ninth position.
Jurgen Klopp used the traditional 4-3-3 formation, with Joe Gomez filling up for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back in exchange for Andy Robertson on the left wing.
Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dyck worked together in the defensive midfield, and captain
Jordan Henderson moved in front of James Milner and Keita, behind Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz, as the attacking three of Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz.
on the other hand, Newcastle coach Eddie Howe, used the 4-3-3 formation, with Emil Kraft, Fabian Char, Dan Bourne, and Matt Targett in the defensive line, Jongo Shelvey in the middle and Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes surrounding him, and Miguel Almiron, Joelinton, and Alan Saint-Maximin in the attack.
In the seventh minute, Liverpool came close to scoring when Jota set up Keita for a shot
from the right side of the penalty area that went just wide of the left post.
In the tenth minute, Milner took a corner kick, which was followed by Van Dyck’s foot over
the crossbar, and Liverpool goalkeeper Alison Becker cleared the ball before it reached the delighted St. Maximin in the 17th minute.
