Barcelona raised its tally to 53 points, taking the La Liga lead by 8 points from Real Madrid, who faltered with a loss against Mallorca.
As for Seville, he remained in the danger zone, as his score froze at 21 points in the sixteenth place in the ranking table, to become threatened with relegation.
Barca coach Xavi Hernandez faced great technical difficulties in the first half, as he received an early blow by injuring Sergio Busquets in the ankle after only 3 minutes, to replace Frank Casey.
The Catalan team imposed its style of possession of the ball, but without real danger, except for an opportunity for Polish star Robert Lewandowski, which was brilliantly saved by Yassin Bono in the 17th minute.
Javi, Pedri, Rafinha, and Frenkie de Jong, the keys to Barcelona’s play, found it very difficult to break through the defensive wall built by Seville coach Jorge Sampaoli.
Sampaoli relied on the (1/4/5) plan and came out tied in the first half, but his team seemed without attacking fangs in the absence of the seriousness of Youssef Al-Nusairi, Aconia, and Rakitic.
