Almeria achieved a valuable victory over Barcelona, (1-0) this evening, Sunday, at the “White Sea Games” stadium, in the 23rd round of the Spanish League.
The only goal of the match was scored by Bilal Toure in the 24th minute.
With this loss, Barcelona’s balance froze at 59 points at the top of the La Liga table, and Almeria raised its balance to 25 points in fifteenth place.
The match started with Barcelona taking possession of the ball, but without explicitly threatening the home side’s goal during the first 20 minutes.
Reversing the course of the match, Almeria striker Bilal Toure succeeded in scoring the goal to advance the hosts in the 24th minute, as he received a ball in the depths from his colleague Luis Suarez, to separate goalkeeper Ter Stegen, and with an unstoppable missile, he put the ball into the Catalan net.
Almeria’s Batistao almost added his team’s second goal in the 28th minute. From a double kick inside the penalty area, he hit the ball, but goalkeeper Ter Stegen was alert and turned it into the corner.
Barcelona winger Ferran Torres sent a cross from the right side into the penalty area, but the Almeria goalkeeper caught it twice before it reached any of the Blaugrana players in the 30th minute.
Barcelona players’ attempts to penetrate Almeria’s defenses in the last quarter of an hour of the match did not succeed.
The first half ended with Almeria advancing 1-0.
At the start of the second half, Frenkie de Jong launched into the Almeria penalty area and hit a curved ball that passed by the home side’s goal in the 48th minute.
Barcelona player Javi shot a powerful ball from outside the penalty area, and Rodrigo hit the Almeria player in the 59th minute.
Ferran Torres hit a curved ball from the right side, which passed by the left post of Almeria’s goal in the 71st minute.
Frenkie de Jong sent a cross from the left side, towards Ronald Araujo, who hit a header that passed by the right post of the Almeria goalkeeper in the 75th minute.
Almeria goalkeeper Fernando Martinez blocked a ground shot from Alarcon, the young Barcelona player, inside the penalty area in the 81st minute.
And the series of wasted opportunities for Barcelona players continued, specifically Araujo, who missed more than one opportunity to score, so Barcelona suffered his second loss this season, after losing against Real Madrid (3-1) last October.
