The Bayern quartet scored each of Choupo Moting, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane, and Alfonso Davies in the minutes (17, 30, 44, and 83), to pass the team to the round of 8.

The Bavarian team scored 4 draws last January, against Red Bull Salzburg (4-4) friendly, and in the league against Leipzig, Cologne, and Eintracht Frankfurt with the same result (1-1).

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann followed an unusual playing method for him by turning to (3-1-4-2), relying on Benjamin Pavard as a defender in a three-line line, while Joao Cancelo played as a right winger, and on the opposite side Kingsley Coman.

The first dangerous opportunity was by Choupo Moting, who met a cross with a header, but the ball passed near the right post.

The response came from the owners of the land via a shot fired by Ayman Barquq from inside the penalty area, but it went over the goal before the Mainz goalkeeper saved an attempt on the opposite side via Koeman, which turned into a corner.

Cancelo opened Bayern’s way to penetrate the Mainz fortress after sending a perfect cross from the right, Chubu Moting met it with a wonderful shot on the bird, scoring the first goal.

Gaps began to appear in front of the Bavarian team after the goal, which allowed it to reach more than one opportunity for goalkeeper Finn Dahmen.

Musiala received a silk pass from Mueller inside the penalty area, to prepare it for himself before he fired a creeping ground shot, which hit the post and then into the net, scoring the guests’ second goal.

Kimmich executed a free kick from the left side with a wonderful shot that almost deceived the homeowners’ goalkeeper, but the post ensured that it was returned instead of him.

Kimmich then sent a cross from a corner, which reached Pavard’s head, who tried to direct it into the goal, but the ball passed near the post.

One minute before the end of the first half, Choupo Moting passed a ball in a wonderful way to Sani, who did not refuse the gift and put the ball easily into the net, so that the guests went to the break ahead (3-0).

The most dangerous opportunity was at the beginning of the second half by Mueller, who received a ball near the goal, to try to put it between the feet of the Mainz goalkeeper so that the ball hit the latter before the defense turned it into a corner.

Substitute Da Costa almost reduced the score for the hosts with a missile shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the intervention of one of the defenders did not give him the freedom to shoot, so the ball went over the crossbar.

The goal of the reduction was closer this time through Anthony, who placed a perfect ball from outside the penalty area in the far left corner of Jan Somer’s goal, but the ball almost touched the post and passed out of the field.

Nagelsmann pushed on some substitutes early in the second half, to give them a chance to feature long enough.

Substitute Gravenbirch tried his luck at the Mainz goal with a creeping ground shot from outside the penalty area, but goalkeeper Dahmen saved it easily.

9 minutes before the end of normal time, referee Dennis Aitken issued a red card in the face of Mainz coach Bo Svensson, due to his objection to one of his decisions.

A few seconds later, Bayern managed to add the fourth goal through substitute Davies, who rose to Kimmich’s cross inside the penalty area, to direct the ball with a header into the net.

The referee did not have mercy on the landlords after falling behind by four, as he awarded Alexander Hack a second yellow card after obstructing Musiala, after which he showed the red card in his face so that Mainz played incompletely 3 minutes before the end.
