Extra time with Sweden and Czech today, What happened!

Sweden beat the Czech Republic in extra time of their World Cup qualifying playoff,

with Robin Quaison’s goal igniting a celebration at the Friends Arena as the host team won 1-0.

Despite the lack of goals in normal time, there were numerous chances,

particularly in the first half.

In the first session, Alexander Isak and Dejan Kulusevski had the best of the home side’s chances,

but the Czech Republic also threatened and Jan Kuchta even had the ball in the net, but it was ruled out due to a foul.

There weren’t as many chances in the second half since there were so many fouls,

but the Czechs did have a chance to win it in the final minute of stoppage time when Milan Havel was picked out at the far post,

but his volley was off the mark.

Watch the fantastic goal of Sweden against Czech now!!

So the game went to extra time, where Sweden eventually scored the game-winning goal,

with Quaison combining with Isak in the 110th minute to send Sweden to the World Cup playoff final.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Tomas Soucek (Czech Republic) – He will not be going to the World Cup,

but the West Ham midfielder could not have done much more for his side.

Consistently with the absence of much attacking threat from his side he would force his way deep into the Sweden half and won a number of free kicks around the box.

Crucially he also produced the match-winning moment, only for his team-mate Havel to fluff his lines.
