Koeman the “killer” saves Bayern from the trap of Salzburg

Bayern Munich escaped falling out of its stadium, with a deadly draw with Austrian Red Bull Salzburg (1-1), today, Wednesday, at the Red Bull Arena, in the first leg of the 16th round of the European Champions League.

Salzburg’s goal came in the 21st minute through Junior Adamo, but the response came from Kingsley Coman in the 90th minute. The two teams waited for the second leg on March 8 to decide the qualification ticket.

The start was calm on the part of the two teams before Bayern became dangerous after 10 minutes through Gnabry, who penetrated into the Salzburg penalty area, shooting a left ball, and goalkeeper Philip Cohen found her on the lookout.

Salzburg coach Matthias Geisel had to make an emergency substitution, after his striker Noah Okafor was injured, to push Adamo instead in the 12th minute.

Salzburg launched a quick counter-attack through Ademi, who passed the ball towards Aronson, to prepare it in turn for the substitute Adamo so that the latter succeeded in placing it with his right in the far left corner.

Aronson almost surprised Bayern with a second goal, after penetrating into the penalty area, before firing a powerful shot w ith his left, but Sven Ulrich brilliantly saved it.

The visiting team tried to equalize the result quickly when Janabari passed a ball to his compatriot Sani inside the area, but the latter’s shot passed near the right post.

The ball reached Muller on the right side of the Salzburg penalty area, to send a cross pass towards Koeman, who met it with a header that was not strong enough, to settle in the arms of goalkeeper Cohen.

Despite the continuous attacks from the guests, Salzburg managed to hold out until the end of the first half with a 1-0 lead.

Bayern showed a clear desire at the beginning of the second half to shake their host’s net, which Koeman translated with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, but it crossed the crossbar.

Sani tried to shoot a long-range shot, but his ball settled in the arms of the home keeper, who returned to deny Bayern a real goal by blocking a creeping ground shot by Koeman.

Bayern launched a quick attack that ended at the feet of Sani, who met the ball with a direct left touch, which Cohen saved brilliantly.

Salzburg almost doubled Bayern’s surgeon with a second goal through a lightning shot from the center of the penalty area, but Ulrich excelled in his goal and turned the ball into a corner.

In the last minute of the original time of the match, Pavard sent a cross towards Muller’s head, to pass the ball and prepare for Koeman, who put it with a direct touch into the net, scoring the equalizing goal in the killer time.
