Lisbon sweeps Mittelland…

Portuguese Sporting Lisbon qualified for the round of 16 in the UEFA European Football Championship, after its great victory (4-0) over its Danish host, Mittelland, today, Thursday, in the second leg of the first knockout round in the continental competition.

The Portuguese team was able to compensate for its disappointing 1-1 draw at home with its opponent in the first-leg match last week, to qualify for the next round with merit.

Sebastian Coates opened the scoring for Sporting Lisbon in the 21st minute, while Maitland was forced to play with 10 players after Paulo Victor da Silva was sent off in the 38th minute for receiving a second warning.

Sporting took advantage of the numerical shortage in the ranks of its competitor, to add Pedro Gonçalves to the second and third goals for the Portuguese team in the 50th and 77th minutes, respectively.

The fourth goal came through friendly fire, after Stefan Gartenmann, a Mittelland player, scored an own goal in the 85th minute.
