Real defeats Elche by four and narrows the gap with Barcelona

Real Madrid achieved a massive victory over its guest Elche, 4-0, this evening, Wednesday, in the 21st round of La Liga, at the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium.

The royal quartet scored each of Asensio (8), Benzema “two goals” from two penalties (31 and 46), and Luka Modric (80).

The Meringue raised its score to 48 points in the ranking table, 8 points behind leaders Barcelona, and the Chi balance froze at 9 points at the bottom of the standings.

The match started with pressure from Real Madrid, and the first threat came with a powerful shot from Militao, which hit the right post of the Elche goal in the 3rd minute.

Marco Asensio succeeded in scoring the lead goal for Real Madrid in the 8th minute, as he received a pass from Dani Carvajal and made an individual effort to dodge the defense and hit the bottom right of the goalkeeper who failed to prevent the ball.

Karim Benzema hit a ball from inside the penalty area, which was saved by Elche goalkeeper Edgar Badia twice in the 12th minute.

Benzema received a cross from his teammate Dani Ceballos, hitting a header that passed over the Elche goal in the 15th minute.

Fede Valverde hit a ball on the edge of the penalty area, which was blocked by the Elche goalkeeper with his fingertips in the 21st minute.

The referee awarded a penalty kick to Real Madrid in the 30th minute, following a handball on Enzo Rocco, the Elche defender, and Karim Benzema, who scored it successfully, was executed.

Before the end of the second half, Real Madrid got a second penalty kick, after Rodrigo fell in the penalty area, which Benzema successfully executed and scored the third goal.

The first half ended with Real Madrid leading by 3 without a response.

At the start of the second half, Real Madrid continued its pressure, with a shot from Rodrigo that was blocked by Badia in the 49th minute, and another shot from Benzema with the right foot in the 61st minute.

Meringue attempts continued without any real danger from the guests.

Luka Modric scored the fourth goal in the 80th minute, with a missile shot from inside the penalty area, to the far right of goalkeeper Badia.

Al-Maliky dominated the remaining minutes of the match without much danger, to collect the three match points.
