Real Madrid needed late goals from Federico Valverde and Marco Asensio to beat Leipzig 2-0 in the Champions League

Asensio added to the lead in stoppage time after Valverde’s inside-the-area
goal in the 80th minute helped Madrid earn its eighth straight victory across all competitions.
The defending champions struggled early on and failed to offer
much of a danger against a tenacious Leipzig team until Valverde
opened the score in their first home match since winning a record 14th European championship.
