The UEFA Europa League champions were well held at bay by Thibaut Courtois, allowing his team to eventually score the first goal just before halftime.

David Alaba and Karim Benzema scored in Helsinki to end Real’s entertaining contest with Frankfurt.

First goal of the year for the great guy. Vinicius, his professional closest friend,

made it by cutting inside from the left and spotting Benzema on the fringe of the area. He let the ball cross his body before sidefooting a shot that was blocked by Trapp.

Trapp should have saved it despite the little wobble;

perhaps he was blind.

Real Madrid’s fifth Super Cup victory ties them with Milan and Barcelona for the most ever. With goals from David Alaba and Karim Benzema, they easily defeated a feeble Frankfurt team.

The new offside system worked flawlessly, and the game was entertaining enough. I am at a loss for what more to say.

After a terrific break by Madrid that began with a heavy challenge by Casemiro on Knauff just outside the area,

Kroos shoots wide from 25 yards.
With Vinicius and Benzema on the ascendant, Madrid has taken over. They make for a truly lethal combo. Alaba challenges Kolo Muani,

who has been active since coming on, down the Frankfurt right. Courtois allows Lenz’s overhit free kick to go behind for a goalkick.

Frankfurt hasn’t really threatened to score aside from the early opportunity for Kamada. They are a good team, but Madrid are in an other league.
As Real Madrid defeated Eintracht Frankfurt to win the UEFA Super Cup,

Karim Benzema passed Cristiano Ronaldo as the club’s second-leading scorer all-time.

In a 2-0 victory, Benzema scored the second goal to surpass Raul as the club’s all-time leading scorer. Only Cristiano Ronaldo, with 450, has scored more goals for the team than he has (324).

With Thibaut Courtois making the saves and Benzema and Vinicius working together to score the goals,

Madrid performed as if they had never been away. On the 65th minute, Benzema scored off the Brazilian’s ball to extend Madrid’s lead.

This was a simple first step in Carlo Ancelotti’s plan to win all six trophies this year.

Madrid dominated without exerting much effort. The same team that defeated Liverpool in Paris was used,

and Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger witnessed from the sidelines how challenging it will be to make the team.

Thibaut Courtois rescued Madrid on minute 14 when Ferland Mendy mishandled the ball and a fast cross found Daichi Kamada.

The next to put Courtois to the test was Ansgar Knauff, whose crossshot was once more stopped by the Belgian.

With their defend deep and counter quickly strategy, Eintracht was more disruptive to the holders of the Europa League than Madrid.

But everything changed at 37 minutes.

Vinicius was dispatched down the left after Benzema’s pass, and Toni Kroos stepped up after Kevin Trapp deflected his cross for a corner.

There were only two goals this time.

Real Madrid defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 on Wednesday to claim the UEFA Super Cup. David Alaba and Karim Benzema scored once in each half.

When Casemiro deflected Benzema’s header back from a corner in the 37th minute,

Alaba pushed the opening goal home from close range. The energetic Vinicius Junior assisted the French star in securing Madrid’s record-tying seventh Super Cup victory in the 65th minute. In doing so,

Benzema surpassed club great Raul with his 324th goal for Madrid.

Between 2009 and 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 450 goals for the team, giving him the advantage.

Madrid, the Champions League champions, and Frankfurt,

the Europa League champions, could not duplicate the excitement of their first encounter.

Frankfurt posed a threat, especially in the first half,

but Madrid’s expertise and individual strength carried them to victory,

as they frequently did throughout their successful 2021–22 Champions League campaign.

With Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois facing up against Daichi Kamada in the 14th minute,

Frankfurt got the better of the opening exchanges.

When Benzema allowed Vinicius to curl past Kevin Trapp in the penalty area, Madrid almost scored, but Tuta successfully cleared the ball off the line.
