Senegal crosses Ecuador into the World Cup final eight

The Senegal national team qualified for the 16th round of the World Cup Qatar 2022, by defeating Ecuador (2-1), this evening, Tuesday, at the end of the group stage at Khalifa International Stadium.

Ismail Sarr scored for Senegal from a penalty kick in the 44th minute, Kalidou Coulibaly in the 70th minute, and Moises Cadisio scored for Ecuador in the 68th minute.

With this victory, the Senegalese national team raised its score to 6 points, in second place in the group, to accompany the leader of the Dutch national team, while Ecuador’s balance froze at 4 points in third place and bid farewell to the tournament.

The match began with pressure from the Senegal national team, as Idrissa Gana Guy hit a ball inside the penalty area, which passed from the left post in the second minute.

Senegalese player Alfred Ndiaye hit a powerful ball from outside the area, but the ball passed far in the 11th minute.

Diallo, the Senegalese national team player, received a cross ball inside the area and hit a header that was easily fired by Ecuadorean goalkeeper Hernan Galendez in the 24th minute.

Ismail Cisse, the Senegalese national team player, received a cross in the Ecuadorean penalty area and hit a ball that passed over the horizontal bar in the 36th minute.

The referee awarded a penalty kick to Senegal in the 43rd minute, after a collision between Hankabi and Ismaila Sarr inside the penalty area, and Sarr rushed to pay it and scored the first goal from a penalty kick.

The first half ended with Senegal leading 1-0.

At the start of the second half, Ecuadorian substitute Sifuentes hit a ball from outside the area, which was easily hit by Senegalese goalkeeper Mendy.

Ecuadorian Moises Caicedo scored the equalizer for his country in the 67th minute. From a corner kick, the ball reached the area towards Felix Torres, who tried to shoot, but the ball reached Caicedo, who put it in the net.

The response came quickly from Senegal, after only 3 minutes, to add Kalidou Coulibaly to the second goal for the Lions, as he received a ball returning from the Ecuadorian defense and hit it directly at goalkeeper Hernan Galendez.

The Senegalese player, Boulaya Dia, hit a ball from inside the Ecuadorean penalty area, which passed near the left post in the 82nd minute.

The Senegalese players succeeded in maintaining the lead of the score, during the remaining minutes of the match, to secure their passage to the second round of the tournament.
