On Thursday evening, the Professional Players Association in Spain issued a statement regarding the Frenchman, Osman Dembele, the Barcelona star, who was told by his club’s management to leave the team during the current winter transfer period.

Dembele was excluded from Thursday night’s match against Athletic Bilbao, and Matteo Alemani, Barcelona’s direct or of football, explained that the player must leave the club and be included in the winter transfer list.

In its statement, the association stated that the club cannot pressure the player to accept an offer to renew the contract, despite acknowledging that Barcelona does not have to include him in the matches, but Barca must commit to paying the player’s dues.

The association said in the statement: “The association considers that the professional player’s contract obligates him to provide his services to the club and follow the instructions provided to him. On the other hand,

the club is obligated to pay the agreed wages and allow the player to provide services on the same terms as the rest of his colleagues, without there being any kind of discrimination or Pressure on the player to waive his rights.

The Federation of Professional Players in Spain added: “We understand that the renewal of the contract requires the consent of both parties, the agreement of the said will be issued freely without external conditions limiting or restricting the freedom to contract with the professional player.”

And she continued: “It is true that the player does not have the right to appear in the team’s list every match, and he must be treated in the same circumstances as his colleagues and be able to play those matches,

but if this circumstance was interpreted as pressure on the player, and public statements were also issued. You acknowledge that kind of pressure, it is an illegal action by the club.”

And the Professional Players Association in Spain concluded: “The League considers that failure to reach an agreement to renew the contract does not mean that there is a breach, so it cannot have any consequences.”
