Zinedine Zidane was born on June 23, 1972, in Marseille, France. Zidane was first introduced to football when he was five years old. He used to play football with his neighbourhood buddies in the Place Tartane, the housing complex’s main square. His early love for football motivated primarily by Olympique Marseille players Jean-Pierre Papin, Enzo Francescoli, and Blaz Sliskovic, who were his soccer idols.
