Wales returns to the FIFA World Cup, after 64 years
Despite a last-ditch attempt to equalize, Hennessey’s goalkeeping heroics and Gareth Bale’s exquisite free-kick were the difference as Wales qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1958.

the men in blue back into their half, attempting to absorb the pressure.
Save! 22′ Ukraine continues on the offensive, but Tsigankov’s final touch is again intercepted
by Hennessey, who refuses to be beaten time and time again. 23′ Chance! Ramsey makes a
move down the right flank for Wales, and he crosses for James, but the Leeds man fails to
reach the area in time.
Shot at 26′! In the midifield, Zinchenko receives the ball and attempts a goal. It is, however,
blocked when Ampadu stops it 28′ offside! Tsygankov attacks the Welsh defense from
behind, surges into the opposition box, and shoots. The linesman raises his flag at that
precise moment.
31′ Another excellent stop by Hennessey! Tsigankov receives the ball from Yaremchuk in the
box, but the keeper makes a critical touch, forcing a corner kick.
Yellow Card, 32′! Daniel James tries to make a break down the right flank, but Mykolenko
blocks him with his elbow, and the referee books the player for the second time in the
game.
34′ GOAL Gareth Bale shoots, and the ball deflected into the net by Yarmolenko.
