The Australian National Team got fully into the fight for a ticket to the Round of 16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, after beating Tunisia 0-1 this Saturday at the Al Janoub Stadium. This victory allowed Graham Arnold ‘s pupils to add their first three points in Group D and will define their ticket to the third day of the Group Phase.

Despite the fact that Tunisia had surprised by taking a point from Denmark and the desire to take a firm step towards the next round was intact, the Kangaroos kept the game under control and responded at ‘zero hour’.

It was with an incredible shot from Mitchell Duke that the scoring was opened in the match. The striker headed towards the far post and denied Aymen Dahmen a chance for 1-0 after 23 minutes.

The round trip game continued, where the Australians gave a clear sign that they should not settle for the slightest difference. However, the African squad also came dangerously close on a couple of occasions, where they fell short of matching the cards.

The Socceroos tried to play on the Tunisian desperation and waited for a fast counterattack. The Águilas de Cartago

dominated the ball, but they found themselves slowed down in the last third and little by little, Australia became more and more confident in being able to accumulate the three points.

Australia will define their ticket against France

Australia was a solid team and without a margin of error took all three points to momentarily be second in Group D. The Kangaroos will seek to seal their ticket against Denmark next Wednesday.

For their part, Tunisia is not eliminated yet but is bottom with just one point and also depends on what happens in France against Denmark to take out the calculator and find out the probable combinations for the last day.
