Everton moved with a great luck on Boreham Wood!

despite a brave attempt cheered on by thousands of travelling fans.

who steered in a shot just before the hour mark and then headed in a second late in the game from a corner to break the tie.
Richarlison also had a shot on goal, but VAR ruled it out for handball,
adding salt to the wounds after the penalty the Blues were denied by the technology against Manchester City at the weekend.
They labored for much of the game as the visitors put up a masterclass in how to frustrate a greater opponent, defending with knowledge and tenacity.
Boreham Wood was greeted with applause as he exited the competition with more than just gate receipts and television money in his pocket!
Before the game, there were also emotional scenes,
with both sets of players carrying Ukrainian flags onto the field in solidarity of the country and its people following Russia‘s invasion.
The tune of Z Cars – the customary hymn used to welcome teams to Goodison Park – was then changed to John Lennon‘s ‘Imagine,’
with the players holding up a banner that read:
‘Imagine all the people, sharing all the planet.’

Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard referred to the game as a “free hit” –
a no-lose situation in which his team could attack knowing that everyone expected them to lose badly.
The Boreham Wood boss, on the other hand, is certainly wiser than that,
