Germany started its preparations for Euro 2024 with a friendly victory over Peru (2-0), in a match held in Mainz today, Saturday.

The Manchaft double was scored by Niklas Volkrug in the 12th and 33rd minutes, in his first match with the starting line-up at the international level.

Substitute Gnabry almost made his mark with a wonderful goal, after he met a cross from the right with a scissor kick, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out of the field.

Schloterbeek was obstructed inside the penalty area, so the referee awarded a penalty kick in favor of Germany, after using video technology.

Havertz executed the kick with a shot that hit the post before it rebounded to him and put it into the net, but an indirect free kick was awarded against him.

The Peruvian goalkeeper blocked a powerful shot by Havertz from inside the penalty area before the German player was found to be offside.

The Peruvian team was unable to threaten Ter Stegen’s goal all the time, while the hosts maintained their lead until the end with minimal effort.
