Jorginho played as the pivot player, and Martin Odegaard and Granit Xhaka moved in front of him, behind the attacking trio of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli. On the other hand, Newcastle coach Eddie Howe also used the 4-3-3 method of play, with Kieran Trippier, Asphalt Putman, Fabian Char, and Down Bourne in the back line. Brun Guimaraes stood in the middle of the field in front of the back line, leaving freedom to Joelinton and Joe Willock to move behind the attacking trio of Jacob Murphy, Callum Wilson, and Alexander Isaacs.
