Liverpool’s revived after a hard-fought victory

Liverpool’s chances of winning the English Premier League were resurrected in the 37th round of the competition when they defeated Southampton 2-1.

Takumi Minamino (27th minute) and Joel Matip (67th minute) scored for Liverpool,

while Nathan Redmond scored the sole goal for Southampton (13th s).


With this victory, Liverpool’s balance rose to 89 points, one point behind leaders Manchester

City, one round before the competition’s finale, while Southampton’s balance froze at 40

points in fifteenth position.

James Milner played as the center player, with Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones moving in

front of him, behind the attacking trio of Minamino, Roberto Firmino, and Diogo Jota.

Klopp used Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate in the depth of the defense, with full-backs Joe

Gomez and Costas Tsimikas.


Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhuttl used a 3-4-3 formation, with Jack Stevens, Leanco,

and Muhammed Salisu in defense, Walker Peters and Nathan Tella on both sides of the field,

and Ibrahim Diallo collaborating with James Ward Bruce in the midfield. Armando Broja

played as an outspoken striker, surrounded by Nathan Redmond and Mahmou El Younesi.

In the tenth minute, Brocha raced down the right flank, past Matip, and fired a powerful effort that goalkeeper Alison Becker saved with his feet.

In the 13th minute, Southampton took the lead when Redmond came in from the left flank,

went past Gomez, and sent an arc shot to the left of the goalie.

The referee ruled that a goal scored by Firmino in the 19th minute was offside, and a minute

later, Tsimikas collaborated with Firmino in the final third of the field before the ball reached

Minamino, who blasted it right into the arms of goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.


In the 27th minute, Liverpool leveled the score as Jota received the ball neatly before

transferring it to Minamino, who shot into the far corner of Southampton’s goal.

In the 30th minute, Jota received an acrobatic cross from Gomez to stop the defenders in

front of his effort, and the ball reached Milner, whose shot caused goalkeeper McCarthy to

react.


Firmino took the ball from Diallo and passed it to Firmino, who missed the target in the 37th

minute, and Gomez was hurt in overtime, so Klopp replaced him at halftime with captain

Jordan Henderson.

Tsimikas set up Jota, who struck from the left side into the penalty area, just inside the right post, and Southampton answered three minutes later with a free kick by specialist Ward Bruce into the human wall.

In the 56th minute, Liverpool came close to scoring when Firmino sent the ball to Elliot, who hit the side net from outside.

In the 61st minute, Jones’ creeping effort went wide of the Southampton goal, then Tsimikas burst through from the left side, before passing a quick ball in front of the goal, where Jota put his foot in front of him, but his attempt in the 63rd minute went wide.
When Tsimikas took a corner kick, Al-Younissi tried to force it away with his head to reach Matip, who followed it with a quick header beyond of the goalkeeper’s reach in the 67th minute, Divock Origi replaced Elliott in the Liverpool lineup.

In the 86th minute, Konate headed a corner ball over the net, and Alisson saved his goal for the second time in two minutes with a Redmond shot in the 88th minute.
