Mehrez and Foden booked their place in semi-final spot!!

The introduction of Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez shifted the game in Manchester City‘s favour, as both players scored in a clinical closing half-hour. Pep Guardiola’s team has been drawn into the semi-final draw.


Manchester City defeated Southampton 4-1 to advance to the FA Cup semi-finals.

The score, however, does not tell the whole tale of the game,

as City battled once again against the Saints, who pressed high and had plenty of chances that they failed to take.

The Blues took an early lead thanks to Raheem Sterling,

but Saints fought back and rightfully drew level thanks to an Aymeric Laporte own-goal on the stroke of half-time.

City continued to play careless in the second half,

but Kevin De Bruyne tucked away a penalty when Gabriel Jesus was tripped in the box,

just as the pressure was growing.

City drew twice against Southampton in the Premier League this season,

but they used their ruthlessness to secure a Wembley date and keep their treble ambitions alive.

After Adam Armstrong hit the post for Southampton early on, Raheem Sterling gave the visitors the lead,

but the hosts deservedly levelled in first-half added time when Aymeric Laporte turned Mohamed Elyounoussi’s cross into his own goal.

Manchester City, on the other hand, shifted gears in the second half after Kevin De Bruyne converted a penalty. With a brilliant strike from the outskirts of the box,

substitute Phil Foden added a third, and then Riyad Mahrez netted at the finish of a superb move.
