Salernitana snatched a valuable draw (1-1) from the fangs of its host Milan, on Monday evening at the San Siro stadium, at the end of the 26th round of the Italian League.
Olivier Giroud scored Milan’s goal in the 45 + 1 minute, and Boulay Dia equalized for Salernitana in the 61st minute, so that the Rossoneri failed to win the second consecutive league match, after losing in the last round (2-1) to Fiorentina.
With this tie, Milan neglected the opportunity to catch up with its rival, Inter, in second place, as its score became 48 points in fourth place, two points behind the Nerazzurri, and Salernitana raised its score to 26 points in 16th place.
The first opportunity in the match came after 23 minutes, from a cross that was dispersed by the defense and reached Rafael Leao on the left side inside the area, to hit a creeping ball that passed near the left post of goalkeeper Ochoa.
Giroud almost scored a remarkable goal in the 29th minute, after a corner kick that Milan got, which was crossed inside the area. Giroud met it with an elaborate scissor kick, but it passed over the crossbar of Salernitana’s goal.
And from Salernitana’s first opportunity in the match in the 33rd minute, the guests posed a great danger, after goalkeeper Maenan wrongly dispersed the ball to reach Boulay Dia, who hit a ground ball that passed by the goal.
Milan’s response came quickly, and Liao almost scored a goal in his usual way, as the Portuguese wing fired a shot from the left towards the goal, which touched the head of one of the defenders and passed out of the field.
After that, Dia wasted an explicit solo for Salernitana, in the 42nd minute, after a mistake by defender Thiao, as a result of which the Senegalese striker managed to be alone in the goal from halfway through the field, to set off and try to dodge the goalkeeper Maenan, but the latter shone and pushed the ball away with his foot.
And in the 45 + 1 minute, Milan scored the first goal of the match through Jiro, after an excellent cross that Diaz executed on the near post, to be met by Jiro with a header into the net.
At the beginning of the second half, Salernitana player Antonio Candreva hit a powerful ball, but Maenan managed to save it.
Liao missed the opportunity for a goal, after a distinguished pass by Ismail bin Nasser in the 51st minute, as he penetrated from the left side and passed a cross, which Liao followed with a shot near the goal.
In the 61st minute, Dia managed to score the equalizer for his team, after a cross from the left by Paradaric, which Milan’s defense made a fatal mistake after Kaulu left his place, so the Senegalese settled the ball into the net very easily.
Seconds after the goal, Milan coach Pioli made 3 substitutions at once, with Giroud, Diaz, and Liao leaving, and pushed Ibrahimovic, De Kitelar, and Origi, in search of progress again.

In the 70th minute, the referee awarded a penalty kick in favor of Milan after bin Nasser fell, before annulling his decision with the help of video technology.
Ochoa Milan was denied a goal, after a cross that skipped Ibrahimovic and Origi met it with his chest from in front of the goal line, but the Mexican goalkeeper shone and successfully pushed it away.
The guests tried to surprise Milan with the second goal, as Piontek fired a missile shot in the 82nd minute. Mainan shone and took it out for a corner.
A dangerous opportunity came to Milan in the 87th minute, after a deceptive cross from Theo Hernandez was on its way to the net, had it not been for the ingenuity of Ochoa, who saved it to fall inside the six yards, and Florenzi followed it up with a shot that Salernitana defender Giumber removed from the goal line.
In the first minute of stoppage time, Zlatan received the ball from Origi, to hit a creeping ball that Ochoa pushed away from his goal, and the remaining minutes passed without anything new, so the referee announced that the match ended in a tie.
