Real Madrid achieved a difficult penalty shootout victory against Valencia (4-3), after the end of normal and extra time with a positive draw (1-1), this evening, Wednesday, in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup.
At the “King Fahd International” stadium in Saudi Arabia, Karim Benzema scored Real Madrid’s goal from a penalty kick in the 39th minute, while Samuel Lino scored for Valencia (46).
Real Madrid, the winner between Real Betis and Barcelona, will face the two sides of the second semi-final, which will be held tomorrow night, Thursday, at King Fahd International Stadium.

The match began with pressure from Real Madrid, as Fede Valverde passed a pass deep in Valencia’s defense and reached Rodrigo, who kicked off and hit a ball that hit the outside net of Valencia’s goal in the 10th minute.
Benzema almost signed the lead goal for Real Madrid in the 14th minute, as he launched with a single effort, dodged the bat defenses, and hit the right post.
Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde shot a creeping ball, which passed near the right post of Valencia’s goal in the 15th minute.
Cavani almost scored for Valencia in the 19th minute, as he received an accidental ball inside the penalty area, and hit a header that Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois brilliantly tackled.
Valencia player Lato demanded a penalty kick after he fell after a collision with Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, but the match referee refused to count it.

The referee of the match awarded a penalty kick to Real Madrid, after a violent intervention by Valencia defender Commert on Karim Benzema inside the penalty area, and the Frenchman rushed to implement it, as he hit the bottom left of the goalkeeper to give the Meringue the lead, in the 39th minute.
