Sheffield started the game strong and had their first attempt in the second minute. Nday followed a corner kick with a shot from within the 6-yard area, but it was stopped by Ortega. Robinson tried again in the 18th minute with a ground shot, but Ortega saved it easily.

City’s Response

City responded with their first offensive attempt in the 22nd minute with a curved shot from Mahrez. Alvarez followed with a similar shot in the 24th minute, but Foderingam saved it. City was awarded a penalty kick in the 41st minute after Bernardo was fouled by Gibson, and Mahrez scored to end the first half with City leading 1-0.
