City was awarded a penalty kick in the 41st minute after Bernardo was fouled by Gibson, and Mahrez scored to end the first half with City leading 1-0.

City started the second half with a shot from Walker that hit the crossbar. They missed a few opportunities before Mahrez scored his second goal in the 61st minute, followed by his hat-trick just five minutes later. With the result secured, Guardiola made four substitutions to rest his stars.

City continued to try for more goals, with Alvarez missing a chance to score the fourth goal in stoppage time. Palmer also had a shot from inside the area in the 90+2 minute, but it went wide. Despite the missed opportunities, City secured their spot in the FA Cup final with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sheffield United.
