Tie 1-1 leads match prizes to be with Bayern Munich!
This was a game that neither Bayern Munich nor Bayer Leverkusen deserved to win. The former for their poor performance, and the later for bottling after bottling.
Bayern Munich‘s assaults were impressive at times, but only until they neared Bayer Leverkusen’s penalty area.
Let’s go to the awards without further ado!
Jersey Swap: Edmond Tapsoba
Today, Leverkusen had a strong defence.
The 1-1 result is unsurprising given Bayern Munich‘s lacklustre attacking performance.
Then it was a different storey,
as Bayern Munich ran out of ideas and choices in front of a white wall!
Gerardo Seoane and his team deserve a lot of credit for not allowing Bayern Munich any room in the box.
Tapsoba and his teammate Piero Hinacpie did an excellent job of holding off the home team.
Tapsoba was instrumental in obstructing Lewy’s space by winning all four of his aerial duels. On the other hand,
Hincapie had five interceptions.
Die Werkself would have taken all three points at the Allianz Arena if their attackers had been as good as their defenders.
Der Kaiser: Omar Richards
The 24-year-old stabilised the defence,
partially filling the vacuum left by Alpohonso Davies. While he couldn’t match Alphonso Davies‘ offensive flair,
Richards was instrumental in keeping the home team from falling behind.
He had a keen sense of opposition movements and used his quickness to thwart attacks.
