Arsenal set a date with Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup competition, by defeating Oxford United (3-0) on Monday evening, in the third round competition.

After a negative first half, performance and result, Arsenal scored a hat-trick signed by Mohamed Elneny (63) and Eddie Nketiah (70 and 76).

Boredom dominated the events of the first half, amid the absence of any dangerous opportunity in the goal of the two teams, and Arsenal waited until the 16th minute, to launch an attack that smelled of danger, but the goalkeeper controlled Tomiyasu’s creeping cross.

Payet stole the ball from Vieira in the middle of the field, before passing it to Branagan, who directed a shot from the outskirts of the penalty area, which rebounded from Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes in the 24th minute.

Tierney’s cross from the left did not find any of his colleagues inside the penalty area, and Oxford’s defense removed it in the 31st minute.

Arsenal players demanded a penalty kick in the 34th minute, when Lokonga fired a shot, which rebounded from the defense, at a time when the away team players believed that the ball had touched the hand of a defender.

And from a long throw-in, the ball reached inside the Oxford penalty area to Nketiah, who carelessly shot it over the goal in the 43rd minute.

Arsenal seemed more effective in controlling the course of the match at the start of the second half, but waited until the 55th minute to threaten the Oxford goal, through fruitful cooperation between Vieira and Saka, so that the latter dodged his marker before hitting a creeping ball that bounced off Byte.

Granit Xhaka and Oleksandr Zinchenko entered the Gunners squad in place of Lokonga and Tierney, then the first goal came in the 63rd minute, when Elneny headed the ball into the net, following a free kick executed by his colleague Vieira.

Arsenal relaxed after Elneny’s goal, adding the second goal in the 70th minute, when Vieira passed a perfect through ball to Nketiah, who dodged the goalkeeper and put the ball into the empty net.

Emil Smith Rowe entered Saka’s place, after which Nikitiah added his second goal in the match, after receiving a distinguished pass from Martinelli, to elegantly place the ball over the goalkeeper’s body and into the goal in the 76th minute.

Arsenal almost scored the fourth goal in the 80th minute, when Martinelli passed from the left, a ball towards Smith Rowe, whose attempt from defense rebounded into a corner that yielded nothing.

The remaining minutes passed quietly, and Zintchenko fired a shot from outside the penalty area, which settled in the stands in the 89th minute.
