Barcelona snatches a draw from the fangs of Manchester United

The positive tie was settled, with a score of (2-2), during the Barcelona and Manchester United confrontation, this Thursday evening, in the framework of the knockout round competitions that qualify for the final 16, which was held at the “Spotify Camp Nou” stadium.

Marcos Alonso and Rafinha scored for Barcelona in minutes (50, 76), while Manchester United scored Marcus Rashford (53) and Jules Conde by mistake (59).

The return match will take place on Thursday, February 23, at Old Trafford.

The match began with pressure from the hosts, and Robert Lewandowski, the Barcelona striker, aimed a powerful ball from inside the area, which was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper David De Gea in the 8th minute.

Then the Blaugrana continued to press, with a shot from Marcos Alonso from outside the area in the 12th minute, and another shot from Javi in the 18th minute.

The most dangerous opportunity for the guests came in the 32nd minute, from a corner kick that reached Casemiro, who escaped from the control of the Blaugrana defense, and hit a header that passed over Ter Stegen’s goal.

Ter Stegen shone in blocking a shot from Rashford from inside the penalty area in the 33rd minute.

Pedri was injured and could not complete the match, so Xavi Hernandez pushed Sergi Roberto instead of him, before the end of the first half.

The first half ended in a goalless draw.

At the start of the second half, Barcelona managed to score the lead goal through Marcos Alonso, who received a cross from the right side through his colleague Rafinha and headed it into De Gea’s net in the 50th minute.

The equalizer came quickly from the guests, through Marcus Rashford, who received a pass from Fred and sent a ground missile that Ter Stegen could not stop in the 52nd minute.

The adventure of the devils did not end at this point, and they even advanced the result with a goal by mistake from Jules Conde, as Rashford sent a cross that hit the French defender and entered the net.

But Barcelona’s Rafinha wing succeeded in snatching the equalizer for the Blaugrana in the 76th minute, as he wanted to send a cross towards Lewandowski, but it surprised goalkeeper De Gea and settled into the net.

Attempts from both sides continued in the remaining minutes of the match, but to no avail so the decision for the second leg in the Red Devils stronghold was postponed.
