Manchester United beat Leicester City (3-0) this evening, Sunday, at Old Trafford, in the 24th round of the English Premier League.
And Manchester United’s distinguished series of results continued recently, thanks to Marcus Rashford’s hat-trick (25 and 56) and Jadon Sancho (61).
With this win, Manchester United’s balance rose to 49 points in third place, while Leicester City’s balance froze at 24 points in fourteenth place.
United is preparing to face Barcelona next Thursday, at Old Trafford, in the second leg of the qualifying round for the round of 16 in the European League.
The first-leg match, which was held last Thursday at the Spotify Camp Nou stadium, ended in a draw (2-2) so the qualification decision between them for the return match was postponed.
The first serious opportunity in the match was in the 8th minute, when Fred lost the ball, Barnes launched and passed to his colleague Iheanacho, who shot and David De Gea saved his attempt.
Christensen executed a corner, which Sutar rose to, but his header went over the goal, then United responded when Fernandez directed a ball towards Rashford, whose attempt was rebounded from Weiss.
Spanish goalkeeper De Gea starred in the 20th minute, when he brilliantly saved Iheanacho’s header, following a cross from Belgian right-back Castagne.
Fernandez sent a smart ball to the outside of the foot, through which Rashford broke the offside trap, unleashed the goalkeeper, and scored the first goal for Manchester United.
Leicester tried to respond quickly, as Barnes passed to the impulsive Dusbury Hull, who fired a powerful shot away from Manchester United in the 31st minute.
And in stoppage time in the first half, Madison got the ball from his colleague Tite, and shot from outside the penalty area, next to the left post.
And between the two halves, Jadon Sancho entered the United lineup instead of Garnacho, and Shaw raised a cross that Martinez climbed to, but his header went over the goal.
Rashford launched on the left side and hit a ball that was saved by goalkeeper Danny Ward, then Vighurst hit in an acrobatic manner, but his ball went over the Leicester goal.
Rashford scored the second goal in the 56th minute when he received a through pass from Fred, through which he broke the offside trap, and advanced the ball before hitting the net.
Soon, substitute Sancho added Manchester United’s third goal in the 61st minute, when he exchanged the ball smoothly with Fernandez, before hitting it into the net.
Anthony Elanga and Aaron Wan-Bissaka entered the place of Rashford and Shaw, and Sancho was alone with goalkeeper Ward, who saved him, and the ball bounced back to him, but he shot far from the net.
The referee awarded a free kick in favor of Manchester United, which Fernandez executed, and Vighurst rose to it, but the latter’s header passed by the far post in the 71st minute.
The remaining minutes passed without real opportunities, with the exception of Vighurst’s solitude, which was saved by goalkeeper Ward in the 81st minute, following a pass from Sancho.
