Barcelona snatched a valuable victory, 1-0, from the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, the home of its rivals, Real Madrid, this evening, Thursday, in the first leg of the King’s Cup semi-final, Clasico.
The only goal of the match came by Eder Militao, Real Madrid defender, by mistake, in the 26th minute.
The return match is scheduled to take place on April 5, in the Blaugrana stronghold, Spotify Camp Nou.
The match began with pressure from Real Madrid, as Luka Modric kicked off and hit a ball that hit the outside net of Ter Stegen’s goal in the 2nd minute.
Karim Benzema scored a goal for Real Madrid in the 12th minute, but the referee canceled it for offside.
Barcelona opened the scoring in the 26th minute, as midfielder Casey kicked off, received a perfect pass inside the Real Madrid penalty area, and hit a ball that was blocked by Courtois, the Meringue goalkeeper, to rebound at Militao’s feet and into the net.
Real continued its attempts, as Luka Modric hit a powerful ball from outside the penalty area, which passed over Ter Stegen’s goal in the 34th minute.
In the 40th minute, Dani Carvajal received a long pass from Toni Kroos, and shot completely away from Barcelona’s goal, so the first half ended with the Blaugrana advancing.
With the start of the second half, Vinicius Junior tried to hit a ball inside the area, but it hit the Araujo defender and went out for a corner, in the 48th minute.
Camavinga hit a powerful ball from outside the area, which passed over Ter Stegen’s goal in the 51st minute.
Luka Modric also tried in the 59th minute with another shot from inside the penalty area, but it hit Marcos Alonso and went out into a corner.
In the 73rd minute, Ferran Torres set off on the right side and crossed a ball into the penalty area towards Frank Casey, who shot directly at the goal, but his ball hit Anso Fati, who changed course and denied Barca the second goal.
Ansu Fati hit a ball that Rudiger pushed away, and turned it into a corner in the 85th minute.
Real Madrid took possession of the ball in the last minutes, but without serious attacks until Rodrigo Joyce hit a powerful ball from outside the penalty area in the 90th minute, but it passed along the post.
And all the royal attempts failed in time instead of lost, so that the Catalan team won a valuable victory before the decisive battle at Camp Nou.
